An alarm escalation process is the structured sequence of actions that occurs after a duress alarm, SOS alert, or man down alarm is activated. The process typically includes incident verification, emergency triage, communication with the user, and dispatch of first responders when assistance is required.
When a duress alarm is activated, the alert is immediately transmitted to the emergency communications centre. Trained operators assess the situation, determine the level of risk, and coordinate the appropriate response, which may include notifying supervisors, emergency contacts, or emergency services.
A monitored alarm response connects the user to a 24/7 emergency monitoring centre where trained operators receive alerts, assess incidents, communicate with the user if possible, and initiate emergency response procedures based on the situation's urgency.
Dispatch times depend on the nature of the incident and emergency service availability. Once an alarm is verified, the communications team immediately initiates incident management procedures and coordinates the fastest available emergency response.
An SOS alarm is manually activated by the user when assistance is needed, while a man down alarm automatically detects falls, incapacitation, or prolonged inactivity and triggers an alert without requiring user intervention. Both alarm types follow a structured escalation process to ensure timely assistance.
